Norman E. Wise
Norm is a resident of La Vista, Nebraska. Born and raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
He began his art career in 1980 and has actively carved wildfowl and game fish since. Norm trained with a local artist and art instructor in design, composition, and technique.
In 1985, he entered his first carving competitive event...the Ward World Waterfowl Carving Competition in Ocean City, Maryland. His entry won 2nd place. Since then, he has been participating in competitive decoy and wildfowl competitive wood carving events from coast to coast.
Since the late 90’s, his entries have consistently taken several first-in-species, first-in category, and best in show awards. To date, he has more than 50 regional and national show awards. A gallery of award winning art can be seen on the TROPHY ROOM page.
In addition to producing commission art for private collectors and artwork for shows, Norm teaches novice to advanced level wildfowl wood carving students. Many of his students compete in regional and national wildfowl wood carving events. More on the wood sculpting program can be seen on the CARVER EDUCATION page. One of his favorite activities is the Youth Carver Program.
Norm enjoys hunting, fishing, and family activities whenever the opportunity arises. He is a retired military officer and healthcare professional.
